Correction of Prominent Ears

Most of the time it is young people who are very aware of their prominent ears which protrude from the sides of their heads. Many of them have been teased for having “elephant ears” and are called “Dumbo” a nick name for elephant or Mickey Mouse.

The surgery to correct the protruding ears is done from behind the ear. The ear is pulled back by stitches and removal of some excess skin. Sometimes cartilage has to be reduced.

After surgery there is a need to wear a hair band compressing the ears close to the head for about a month. The ears will stay in the new position permanently when scars develop, holding down the ears. There is no effect on the hearing.
